PlanET Biogás participates in the 7th Southern Brazilian Biogas and Biomethane Forum with a case presentation, reinforcing the importance of science for biodigester performance

PlanET Biogás Brasil was present at the 7th Southern Brazilian Biogas and Biomethane Forum, held in Bento Gonçalves (RS), with the entire team showcasing the company’s solutions and technologies.

PlanET was a silver sponsor of the event, and team member André Amaral, Business Development Manager, participated in the panel “Biodigester Performance,” where he presented PlanET’s experience in biogas production efficiency.

The forum brought together leading experts to discuss the factors that directly influence the efficiency and viability of biogas projects and was moderated by Franciele Natividade, manager of the Biogas Laboratory at the International Center for Renewable Energies (CIBiogás).

The panel covered technical and scientific aspects related to the performance of biodigesters, from substrate characterization to the role of microorganisms in the anaerobic digestion process.

The speakers took a multidisciplinary approach, emphasizing the importance of pre-feasibility studies, applied microbiology, and technologies to optimize processes. The conclusion was clear: having in-depth knowledge of the initial stages of the projects makes all the difference in ensuring energy efficiency and economic sustainability.

André Amaral highlighted how the company’s technology and expertise directly contribute to the superior performance of biogas plants. The presentation showcased PlanET’s technological and biological advances, such as eco HUGO, which increases biogas production by 10% by facilitating substrate degradation, and the Retíctor, which simulates a cow’s stomach to reduce hydraulic retention time (HRT).

“Our experiences are closely linked to different types of substrates. So, PlanET operates very dynamically in this world – working with animal waste, energy crops, and industrial/agro-industrial residues. We have an innovation area that combines a lot of technological innovation and biology.” – André Amaral.

The entire PlanET team was present at the event, gathered at a booth that reflected innovation and the strengthening of the sector.

Luciane Fornari, CEO of PlanET Biogás Brasil, highlighted the importance of the event as a platform for alignment between science, the market, and purpose. According to her, the Forum plays a fundamental role in developing the biogas sector in Brazil by bringing together institutions such as Embrapa, CIBiogás, and UCS.

“This is a huge market that is just getting started, but it’s already off to a great start: organized, united, and speaking the same language,” she said. Luciane also pointed out the symbolism of the event being held in Rio Grande do Sul, a state recently affected by severe climate-related events, reinforcing the urgency of energy transition. “Once again, this reflects the kind of effort we must make as a nation — to shift our energy matrix,” she added.
