From biogas to biomethane
Future security through intelligent energy solutions
A special treatment is required for feeding biogas into the natural gas grid. In order to process biogas into natural gas quality, we rely on selected processes that we install turnkey on your premises. To this end, we develop holistic solutions for the reliable, economical and future-proof operation of your energy systems.
Your advantage: By processing and feeding biomethane into the natural gas grid, you not only increase the utilisation rate of your biogas, but also increase the overall efficiency of your biogas plant.
Full Service von PlanET
For the upgrading of biogas to natural gas quality, PlanET relies on selected processes that are installed on a turnkey basis.
As with all our biogas plants, the customer-specific requirements are taken into account and the plant is precisely designed to operate economically efficiently.
Our services:
- needs assessment and feasibility study
- optimisation of your existing system (energy, input and capacity utilisation)
- preparation of permit applications
- planning, construction and commissioning of your biomethane plant
- with CNG, LNG or CO2 production, if desired
- biological and technical service
Efficient treatment of biogas by membrane process
PlanET offers the membrane process in Europe. In this biogas treatment process, the separation properties of the membranes are optimally utilised. The multistage interconnection of SEPURAN® Green membranes allows up to 99 percent of the methane to be purified from the biogas. This is achieved with the principle of selective permeation: We use the highly efficient SEPURAN® Green gas separation modules developed by Evonik Industries. The process guarantees you state-of-the-art technology: Without using heat and chemicals, the process can be used in all performance classes – with relatively low investment costs and short installation times.
Advantages of the membrane process
- low specific processing costs
- low investment
- easy to use
- low space requirement and short installation times
- flexible and modular
- no chemicals needed
- no additional drying step
Biomethane extraction by pressure swing adsorption (PSA)
PSA systems are used for the extraction and separation of biomethane from various hydrogen-rich gases. The pressure swing adsorption technology uses the principle of gas separation at ambient temperature on a carbon molecular sieve (CMS). The special material adsorbs the carbon dioxide from the biogas to produce purified biomethane.
Advantages of pressure swing adsorption
- low specific processing costs
- minimum energy requirement
- can be used flexibly with fluctuating volume flows and different gas compositions
